Faculty of Agriculture University of Medan Area (UMA) held a Network Culture Workshop on Monday, February 10, 2020, at the Medan Area University Convention Hall. The workshop was opened directly by the Chancellor of Medan Area University, by presenting 2 Speakers namely Professor of University of Medan Area Prof. Dr. Ir. Rafiqi Tantawi MS, and Faculty of Agriculture UMA lecturer Asep Rodiansyah SP. MP, attended by hundreds of high school / vocational students from some districts/cities in North Sumatra, and was attended by the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Ir. Siti Mardiana M. Sc, Deputy Chancellor for Collaboration Dr. Ir. Zulheri Noer MP, faculty of agriculture lecturers and student assistant teachers.
Dr. Ir. Syahbudin M. Si delivered his remarks at the opening of the Network Culture Workshop “Faculty of Agriculture, University of Medan area has been declared a base for plant propagation through tissue culture. Because plant propagation through tissue culture is much more effective and efficient, and does not change the character of plants. Propagation through tissue culture allows the propagation of plants on a large scale with a relatively faster time. In addition, tissue culture still retains the character of plants. Whereas the propagation of plants through conventional methods will cause deviations from the nature of plants. The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture also said that the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Medan Area Is the Best Faculty of Agriculture in North Sumatra Because One of the Existing Study Programs Is the Only Study Program to Get A Private tertiary institution Accreditation in L2dikti Region 1 with Profile of Teaching Staff of 5 Professors, 12 People Hold a doctorate degree and the rest holds a master degree,
Professor of Faculty of Agriculture UMA Prof. Rafiqi Tantawi who is also a workshop speaker said, tissue culture is a technique to multiply plants by multiplying plant microtissue that is grown in Vito into perfect plants in unlimited quantities.
Following the instructions of the Chair of the Implementing Committee namely the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture, Mr. Ir. Rizal Aziz, MP students who participated were divided into three groups. After attending the workshop, each group will be taken to visit the Faculty of Agriculture of UMA demonstration plot, laboratory, and compost house.
The workshop program ran smoothly and in accordance with the planned event that had been prepared.
